SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Sex Offenders residing in the city limits of Mart and are required to register as a sex offender under Chapter 62 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, must register with the City of Mart Police Department. All registrants must keep the Mart Police Department updated of all changes to their registration status.

REGISTRATION

Registration is done on an appointment basis. Current sex offenders will receive a notice to the address on file with the department approximately 30 days in advance of the appointment date. Walk-ins are no longer allowed as we cannot guarantee that certified registration personnel will be available.

RELOCATION

Registrants that are relocating to Mart or moving out of Mart need to notify the Mart Police Department 2 weeks before they relocate. Registrants wishing to move into Mart need to consult the Mart Police Department prior to signing a lease or rental agreement or before purchasing property in Mart. Current registrants need to consult with the Mart Police Department prior to changing residences inside the city. The City of Mart currently has an ordinance that prohibits a registrant convicted of certain crimes against children from living in certain areas of the city. This ordinance and the exclusion zone map are available in the link to the right. The City of Mart Police Department may adjust the exclusion zones based on changes in the locations of childcare facilities or places children gather. There will not be exceptions made under any circumstances.
